Microneedling: Important Information
Preparing for Your Microneedling Treatment
We want you to get the very best results from your Micro Needling treatment at Buoy Spa. To ensure your skin is ready, please follow these important pre-treatment guidelines:
- Avoid Accutane for six months prior to beginning treatment (check with your prescribing physician).
- Do not use topical agents that may increase skin sensitivity (such as retinoids, exfoliants, topical antibiotics, or hydroxy acids) for 3–5 days before your treatment.
- Avoid IPL/Laser procedures, unprotected sun exposure, or sunburn for at least 2 weeks before your appointment.
- No waxing, depilatory creams, or electrolysis on the treatment area for 5 days prior.
- Do not shave the day of your appointment to avoid irritation.
- Keep makeup to a minimum on the day of your treatment, if possible.
- Avoid trying new products in the days leading up to your treatment.
- Avoid alcohol, blood thinners, and caffeine 24–48 hours prior.
Following these steps will help your skin respond well and maximise the results of your treatment.
After your Microneedling Treatment
To achieve the best possible results and support your skin’s healing process, please follow these aftercare guidelines provided by our Expert Skin Experts:
Immediate Aftercare (First 24–72 Hours)
- Keep hands off your face.
- Gently cleanse after 6 hours.
- Apply only the aftercare products provided by your skin expert.
- Avoid sun exposure and continue wearing SPF daily.
- Avoid makeup. If necessary, choose mineral-based, oil-free options.
- Do not use cold compresses or ice packs.
- Avoid ibuprofen and other anti-inflammatories.
- Refrain from heavy exercise and direct sun exposure.
- Do not use active skincare (AHAs, BHAs, exfoliants, Vitamin A/Retinol).
Recovery Phase (Day 2–7)
- Continue gentle cleansing.
- Avoid active skincare.
- Makeup can be worn.
- Do not pick or peel the skin while it heals.
Post-Healing (Day 7+)
- Gradually reintroduce active skincare.
- Continue daily sunscreen use.
- Focus on hydration and nourishment.
Following these steps will support your skin’s recovery and help you achieve the best possible results
